Beyoncé made history at the Grammys without the biggest awards of the night

The superstar was once again shut out of the biggest awards of the ceremony.

Four prizes had been called for Beyoncé, but all were in down-ballot genre categories. Renaissance for best dance/electronic album, Break My Soul for best dance/electronic recording, Plastic Off the Sofa for best traditional R&B performance, and Cuff It for best R&B song. Yet, in a moment of triumph and retribution for an artist that has never won in a major awards category at the Grammys, Beyoncé was shut out again. Despite that, she left the awards show with the most career wins by an artist. In a moment of celebration that was highlighted by the host Trevor Noah, lay the fact that the most-awarded artist was without any Grammys in major award categories.

The 2023 Grammys felt different for Beyoncé where she was nominated in nine categories. People speculated that this would be the night when she would win in major ones. The likes of which she hasn’t won since 2010 when Single Ladies won song of the year. After all, she was nominated in the major categories of the song of the year, record of the year, and album of the year.
