I think this topic is bit more complex than we give it credit. Stereotypes are a type of label that are problematic because it’s not that they are untrue, but they often make one truth the only truth about a group of people. However, people that have systematically kept others down can’t so quickly be labeled for just their actions when they as a group have benefitted from things outside of their actions. An interesting topic I’ve came across is acknowledging that all white people are racist but that doesn’t necessarily mean they engage in racist acts. It is just that by being white they help to reinforce a power structure which is what racism really boils down to.
