A charming, midwestern candidate from Indiana, Pete Buttigieg could be perfect for many perspective voters on paper. As a white man that attended Harvard and spent time in the military, he also has two prerequisites most American presidents of the past have, Ivy League education and military experience. Pete is unique for being the first openly gay man to run for president. His appeal extends to the LGBTQ community that could see themselves represented at the highest office, while others can accept him for his sexuality as he isn’t feminine. Yes he is gay, but you wouldn’t be able to tell from hearing him on interviews or the way he holds himself on a debate stage. His young age and lack of political experience extends to voters who blame seasoned politicians for the current issues we have. This could be appealing to many voters that want to ensure there is a complete repudiation of Trump and longstanding politicians. Pete is a good candidate on paper, but does America need another center left politician running to be president who’s political biography seems orchestrated?

In many interviews, Pete explains that he knew he wanted to be president before college. His life from that point on showcases steps taken to lead to the current moment. It opens up questions about two very important facts in his life, his sexuality and military experience.
