Stay Unvaccinated, I No Longer Care
I won’t keep up the good fight this year.
I used to really believe that vaccines were going to get us out of this pandemic. After all, that was the promise while they were being developed. Vaccines were going to save the day, the pandemic was going to be behind us, and people were going to go back to their normal routines again. By the start of 2022, the world would be as if Covid-19 never happened. That was the goal at least. However, as we enter the third year of this pandemic and people continue to refuse vaccination, what’s the point in keeping up the good fight?
We should have known this vaccination plan wasn’t going to go smoothly when wealthy countries and pharmaceutical companies weren’t exactly willing to share. Just 7.5% of Africa has received a primary vaccine shot. Countries are dealing with a global pandemic and yet treating it as if it’s confined to their borders. The World Health Organization has been warning since before the vaccines came out that the best shot we had at eliminating the virus was through cooperation. Not only have wealthy countries decided they didn’t need to share, but they also didn’t push the pharmaceutical companies to either.
