Very well written piece Nathan! I’m a runner and oftentimes am the only Black person running on any given day, but when I do see another Black person on the trails we nod at each other. I have noticed that older men are more willing to clap or encourage me to keep going. It’s a part of our culture to embrace and acknowledge each other because having been stripped from our family for generations, Black people learned to form a bond with strangers to survive.
