WeWork’s CEO Claims to Know What’s Best for Workers
As the pandemic comes under control in the US, CEOs are reverting back to their old ways.
Earlier this week, WeWork’s CEO, Sandeep Mathrani, chimed into the debate over whether or not workers should go back into the office. He said, “It’s also pretty obvious that those who are overly engaged with the company want to go to the office two-thirds of the time at least. Those who are least engaged are very comfortable working from home.” It’s ironic coming from the CEO of a company that currently has millions of square feet of real estate sitting vacant right now because of work from home policies. Policies that have allowed people to spend more time with their family, reevaluate their priorities, and understand that they work to live. He isn’t the first CEO to make such comments though.
At a conference this week, Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase & Co, made the comment that working from home does not work for everyone, especially those who want to hustle. The bank, the largest in America, told its workers that it expected them back in the office by July on a rotational schedule. Other companies like Google and Apple also expect their workers to begin returning in the summer. These comments lie in direct contradiction to the employees of these companies. In fact, employees…
