While I understand where you were going with this piece, I don’t think it’s productive to distance yourself from some Black people to advance the movement for all of us. The Black experience is incredibly nuanced, just as it is for other races, and we have to work on uplifting all within our communities even when we disagree with their lifestyles and ways of thinking. Believe me, I see how some Black people have completely given up on themselves living in a major city, but who’s to say my way of thinking is the only right one? White people are incredibly effective at uplifting each other regardless of their statuses because they understand the collective power of whiteness. We need to stop trying to separate ourselves if we ever hope to achieve anything.
